Handicap
International is an international organisation specialised in the field of
disability. Non-governmental, non-religious, non-political and non-profit
making, it works alongside people with disabilities, whatever the context,
offering them assistance and supporting them in their efforts to become
self-reliant. Since its creation, the organisation has set up programmes in
approximately 60 countries and intervened in many emergency situations. It has
a network of eight national associations (
The programme is
composed of two operational teams, the Burmese Border one and the Disability
and Development one, plus the administrative service based in
Main activities:
mine risk education, prostheses production, physiotherapy and disability
prevention. Location of activities: 9 Karen / Karenni refugee camps along the
border (150 000 people) and neighbouring Thai villages in the
Team: 3
international positions, 32 Thai positions, 110 refugee workers in the 9 camps.
Annual budget 2007:
780 000 EUR with an institutional cover rate of 83%.

Job description :
Priorities of the Programme Director will be:
Profile sought:
·
A least, 3 years previous experience as Country
Director in an INGO
·
Demonstrated proficiency in development of
pluri-annual strategy and projects proposals
·
Demonstrated results in team motivation building
·
Creativity and
innovation capacities
·
Knowledge/experience in inter-cultural issues,
preferably in
·
An advantage :theoretical and practical knowledge in
the field of disability
Languages: Excellent written
and oral English, French and Thai a plus.
Remuneration: Salaried: 2450 to 2800 monthly gross salary + benefits
