A Call by Scientists
for a Mine Free Earth

On tuesday the 22nd of june 1999, 64 scientists world renowned made a call to the 191 Head of States "For a earth free of landmines". By the way they have mobilisied the community of scientists from all countries for the practice and the respect of Ottawa treaty to ban landmine.

The 64 first signatories have invited the scientist of all countries to join and support this call, and to spread it on to the governements, citizens and the media of their countries.

At the end of 2002, 675 scientists coming from 43 countries signed the call
The call of the 64 scientists and the signatories of the 675 are sent each year in june to the head of states that have not ratified the treaty of Ottawa.

Josette Dupuy-Philon, (a physicist, Formely Director of Research at the CNRS), initiated the appeal and is currently universalizing the signature campaign.
